Role Summary
The Knowledge Management and Translation Manager will play a critical role in working with place-based initiatives to identify best practices and translate them into accessible tools that drive real-world impact.
This role will ensure that community experiences and expertise are central to PLACE’s knowledge-sharing efforts, ensuring that research and learning resources are informed by, and responsive to, local realities, needs and aspirations. The Manager will oversee the creation of practical tools, capacity-building initiatives, and policy resources that empower communities, practitioners, and policymakers.

Areas of Responsibility
1. Engaging with Communities to Capture Local Knowledge
Develop deep partnerships with communities, ensuring that knowledge translation efforts reflect lived experiences, priorities, and solutions identified by local people.
Conduct listening sessions, and co-design workshops to gather insights on what works well in place-based initiatives.
Work with community leaders, grassroots organisations, and local practitioners to identify and document effective approaches and lessons learned.
Ensure PLACE’s learning resources amplify community voices, particularly those of marginalised and underrepresented groups.
Conduct case studies, evidence reviews, and on-the-ground assessments to understand strengths, challenges, and opportunities for scaling impact.
Develop an inventory of best practices, categorising successful models, frameworks, and methodologies for wider adoption.
Work closely with PLACE teams and community partners to test and refine emerging insights before translating them into learning tools.
2. Knowledge Translation and Learning Hub Development
Lead the development of PLACE’s Learning Hub, ensuring it provides practical, evidence-based tools for communities, practitioners, and policymakers.
Translate research and best practices into accessible resources, including guides, toolkits, policy briefs, videos, and multimedia learning materials.
Develop interactive learning experiences, such as training modules, peer-learning forums, and community-driven knowledge-sharing events.
Ensure resources are adaptable and inclusive, designed to be relevant for diverse communities and practitioners working in different contexts.
3. Capacity Building and Practical Application
Support community organisations, frontline practitioners, and local leaders in applying best practices through training, mentoring, and hands-on capacity building.
Design and deliver workshops, coaching sessions, and tailored learning programs that strengthen the ability of communities to use and adapt evidence-based tools.
Work with PLACE teams to embed community-driven knowledge translation practices into programs, advocacy, and policy development.
4. Strengthening Partnerships and Collaborative Learning
Foster strong partnerships with local organisations, networks, and knowledge hubs to share insights and co-develop resources.
Connect grassroots innovations with national and international networks, ensuring that local successes inform broader policy and system change.
Represent PLACE in knowledge exchange forums, conferences, and communities of practice to share insights and elevate community-led approaches.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
Develop community-driven feedback mechanisms to assess the relevance, accessibility, and effectiveness of PLACE’s knowledge tools and resources.
Track the adoption and impact of best practices across place-based initiatives, identifying opportunities for continuous learning and improvement.
Stay informed of emerging best practices in knowledge translation and community-led learning, integrating innovative approaches into PLACE’s work.
