Salary Range | $110,000 - $130,000 + superannuation

Role Summary

The Governance Advisor and Facilitator will provide expert governance advice and support to PLACE’s Company Secretary and play a key role in the effective operation of the Community Council. This role ensures that PLACE’s governance frameworks meet regulatory requirements and support our ambition to be led by and accountable to the community.

As a trusted advisor, the Governance Advisor will strengthen PLACE’s governance processes, support the Board, and build the capacity of the Community Council to contribute effectively to PLACE’s strategic priorities.

Areas of Responsibility

1. Governance Advice and Support

  • Provide strategic advice and technical expertise to support the Company Secretary in meeting governance obligations and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, review, and refine governance frameworks, policies, and charters to ensure alignment with PLACE’s vision and values.

  • Support the preparation of Board and Community Council meeting materials, including agendas, minutes, and action registers.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes relevant to PLACE and provide advice on their implications.

2. Community Council Operations

  • Facilitate the effective operation of the Community Council, ensuring its members are equipped to contribute meaningfully to PLACE’s strategic priorities.

  • Develop and deliver training and capacity-building activities for Community Council members, focusing on governance best practices and their roles and responsibilities.

  • Act as the primary liaison between PLACE and the Community Council, ensuring clear communication and alignment.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and shared decision-making within the Community Council, aligned with PLACE’s values.

3. Governance Facilitation

  • Facilitate workshops, discussions, and decision-making processes for the Board, Community Council, and other governance bodies as required.

  • Build relationships with Community Council members and key stakeholders to ensure a high level of engagement and participation.

  • Mediate and resolve any governance-related issues or conflicts that may arise, fostering constructive dialogue and outcomes.
